First Lady Melania Trump will attend a White House reception for Gold Star families after avoiding the public’s eye for three weeks, officials said.
But the Monday night event, for families of service members killed in the Iraq War, will be closed to press, according to a schedule released by the White House Sunday night.
The First Lady has skipped several opportunities for official appearances, including last week’s Sports and Fitness Day on the South Lawn and Trump’s Camp David retreat, since undergoing treatment for a “benign kidney condition.”
Trump, 48, was last seen with her husband on May 10, when the couple welcomed home three American hostages from North Korea at Joint Base Andrews.
Despite plans to attend the reception Monday, a spokeswoman to the First Lady said she will not be joining the President overseas for the G7 summit in Quebec or the looming talks with North Korea next month in Singapore, CNN reported.
The First Lady addressed speculation to her whereabouts Friday.
“I see the media is working overtime speculating where I am & what I'm doing. Rest assured, I'm here at the @WhiteHouse w my family, feeling great, & working hard on behalf of children & the American people,” she tweeted.
