Roger Self was taken into custody soon after the crash and charged with first-degree murder.
A man was charged with murder after crashing his car into a North Carolina restaurant, killing two people — including his daughter — and injuring several others Sunday, authorities said.
Roger Self was with his family at the Surf and Turf restaurant in Gaston County before leaving and then coming back to intentionally ram his vehicle into the eatery after 12 p.m., officials said.
One of the victims is Self's 26-year-old daughter — Katelyn Self — who was a deputy with the Gaston County Sheriff's Office for four years. Authorities didn't name the second victim.

Caleb Martin, a bus boy at the restaurant, told ABC11 he "heard a loud boom" at the time of the crash.
"It (the car) went straight through. There's a doorway. There is a wall and he (Self) drove in another room," the 14-year-old said.
