A dead woman whose dismembered remains were found scattered across a Brooklyn park lived just across the street from the park where her body parts were discovered, police said.
Cops on Wednesday identified the recovered remains as 26-year-old Brandy Odom, although it still wasn’t clear how the young woman died and who was responsible.
Odom lived at the Bayview Houses in Canarsie — directly across the street from Canarsie Park, where her body was discovered in a thatch of trees Monday evening, cops said.
A woman walking her dog in the park discovered Odom’s head and naked torso partially covered in leaves just off a park path near E. 86th St. and Seaview Ave. about 6:10 p.m., police said.
A prolonged search of the park Tuesday turned up the young woman’s arms, legs and other body parts found covered in plastic bags.
The park-turned-dumping ground remained closed Wednesday morning.
A neighbor said NYPD detectives escorted a middle-aged woman and several children from the victim’s apartment Tuesday night.

The city Medical Examiner has not ruled on a cause of death but police sources said Odom’s face was swollen and bruised. Her arms were severed at the elbows and her legs were hacked just below her buttocks, a source said.
Police believe the killing took place somewhere other than the park. Investigators believe her remains were discarded in the park only a short time before they were discovered.
No arrests have been made.
Now that cops have identified her, detectives are attempting to track her activities before she died.
Detectives are reviewing surveillance video around the park to see if they can get any images of the person who carried her remains into the greenspace.
Odom apparently steered clear of trouble, police sources said. The young woman had been arrested once, in 2012, but the details of that case were not immediately available.
