Georgia cop shot, suspect barricades himself inside home

Authorities in Georgia have been locked in a tense standoff with a man they say shot a police officer before barricading himself inside a house, according to reports.
Centerville Police Officer Jeremy Mashuga was responding to a domestic violence call at about 9: 30 p.m. Friday when the gunfire broke out, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation told local Fox affiliate WGXA. Officials aren’t giving out much more on what happened until the standoff ends.
Mashuga was rushed to Navicent Health hospital in Macon, Ga. — about 85 miles south of Atlanta — where he underwent surgery for a gunshot wound to the abdomen, according to reports.

"He's going to be OK," Cameron Andrews, a Centerville councilman, said to the Telegraph of Macon in a text message. "God is good."
What sparked the shooting remains unclear, however, as the standoff carried into its sixth hour.

The barricaded shooter was identified as Perry Baggett, who remained locked inside the home as law enforcement converged on the area.
"We're still trying to get him out of the home," Houston County Sheriff Cullen Talton told the Telegraph on Saturday.
A woman was previously rescued from the scene earlier in the standoff.
