The Brooklyn man arrested for the chokehold rape and robbery of a young Bronx teacher has a history of violent attacks, including a 2015 rape arrest, police said.
Lynneke Burris, 30, of Prospect-Lefferts Gardens, was arrested Thursday night for what police believe was a violent random attack on the 23-year-old high school English teacher in her Concourse Village apartment building about 1 a.m.
Burris threw her in a headlock until she passed out, authorities said. When she came to, he raped her in the building’s elevator, took cash, her wallet and demanded her PIN, police said. Burris then withdrew $500 from the victim’s account, according to the NYPD.
He was arrested after a cop recognized him from a surveillance photo, according to police.
Burris — who has 21 prior arrests, including multiple assaults and a sealed 2015 rape case, on his record — is charged with rape, robbery, assault, strangulation and predatory sexual assault, police said.
