Thor may be no more.
Chris Hemsworth confirmed to USA Today that his contract with Marvel Studios has been fulfilled after four “Avengers” movies and three standalone “Thor” films.
“Yeah, this is it. I’m done. I won’t be playing the character again,” the 34-year-old actor said.
Hemsworth co-stars in “Avengers: Infinity War,” which hits theaters on May 4, but his future with Mjölnir seems unlikely.
In the Marvel comic books, Jane Foster has taken over as the Asgardian god.
Marvel recently hired a screenwriter for a Black Widow standalone that has been teased for years. “Captain Marvel,” starring Brie Larson, is slated to be released in theaters on March 8, 2019, but the MCU still remains largely dominated by male superheroes.
Tessa Thompson, who starred in “Thor: Ragnarok” as Valkyrie, recently pitched an all-female movie, including Scarlet Johansson’s Black Widow, Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch, Larson’s Captain Marvel and Evangeline Lilly’s Wasp.
